Hangover Sundays + Father's Day

#25 – Goals for Month 6/12
So yesterday I finally got to host my little brunch. There were only a couple of us but it turned out swell. Father’s Day probably isn’t the best day to plan a brunch but I was grateful towards the peeps that did come out. It was also a bad day for a brunch seeing how I had been out Saturday night and woke up slightly intoxicated.

I have to send a huge thank you out to my mother for help with brunch. She woke up on her Sunday off to cook me up some spiced potato hash browns! She even dropped them off at the house (I can see you grinning with a big 'humph' as you read this, Trudy). But thank you :)

On the menu:
  • Fruit Salad (strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, peach)
  • Chicken Breast w. Chipotle spices (I tried to avoid the fatty ham/bacon traditional brunch)
  • Egg & Avocado Wraps (white wraps, avocado mixed with boiled eggs, pesto, mozza cheese, goat cheese)
  • Homemade Granola (Recipe)
  • Vanilla Greek Yogurt
  • Mimosas (thanks for the champagne)
  • Budlight

After brunch we were extremely lazy so we acted as vegetables on the couch and chatted about this that and the other thing. 'Twas fabulous. Thanks, friends!

Napping vs. Exercise

All Saturday I was counting down until Sunday for a big run. Ya..no dice. I was actually so nauseated when I woke up from my post-brunch nap. Actually, I woke up at one point, convinced myself I was feeling a little ‘peckish’, scowered down a MASSIVE handful of granola and then got sick again. So I snoozed off to my second dream. At 5:00pm I mustered up the energy to get my lazy self out of bed and get an Americano. Allan, Heather, Emily and I were blabbing on and on and on that afternoon about out love for Starbucks (Allan headed directly there when he left my house), so I went for an  Ice Americano. D-e-l-i-s-h! Not kidding, my #1 cure for a hangover is an espresso. It’s my favorite kinda high.

When I left Starbucks Val had text with a “Quidi Vidi?” so I literally spun the car around and headed for QV where she and I walked the lake twice. It was so so nice out. Windy as hell but warm. We had a light walk and just chatted about our night and before we knew it, we had walked 7.6-km. It might not have been the run I had been counting on but some exercise beats no exercise! Yay for us! (And I get to shave that off of #22 on my Goals for Month 6/12 list.

Happy Father’s Day
Dad & I last summer at
his shed party <3
After I did QUidi Vidi with Val, I headed to Pouch Cove to seee papa-bear. He was taking a little snooze but got up for gifts!
Clothes & Treats
Every time I head to Pouch Cove I realize how much I miss dear ol’ dad. We have very different schedules but I should be making more of an effort to get down there in the evenings. He’s one of a kind for sure J
Wishing my amazing father a big HFD! Love you to times a million .. (though I know he has zero idea how to navigate through this blog and will never see that HFD). Pff, whatev!
A Little Productivity
I was feeling a lot better when I got home last night. It was about 9:00pm so I didn’t have much time to do anything. I hadn’t made my lunches for the week, the house was a state, I hadn’t done laundry and the list goes on ….
So here’s what I did so I could go to sleep feeling satisfied.
Sparkling =)

Small amt. of Prep:
big fruit salad, whole head of celery,
shaved brussels sprouts, hardboiled eggs

Lunch: leftover spiced sweet potatoe,
1.5-cups of fruit salad, 2 hard-boiled
eggs, celery & an apple

After doing such little Sunday evening (la-z-y), I drove to Tim Horton's, got my camomile tea and then went home for bed. I lay down, made some lists, added a new recipe to my recipe book, started a new post for this blog and then passed out!
Life is good :)

I hope everyone had the best best best weekend!!!

Serendipity

Serendipity means a "happy accident" or "pleasant surprise"; a fortunate mistake. Specifically, the accident of finding something good or useful while not specifically searching for it.

[Reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serendipity ]

I'm not sure if I would consider this serendipity but the man I met at Starbucks sure did.

I'm sure a lot of you will be disinterested in this post but I really wanted to share it as the encounter that had made my day.

 ---------------------------------------------------------

So it's Saturday morning and I'm in the Starbucks line when this older gentleman walks up to me and touches my arm. The conversation went as follows:

Bill: You have Bernard written on your arm
Me: Ya, I got it tattooed down in Miami a few years back.
Bill: And who is Bernard?
Me: He's my grandfather.
Bill: Is he still alive or did he pass on?
Me: He passed away a few years back.
Bill: O, I'm so sorry to hear. Was he sick?
Me: Ya, I pretty much lived with him until I was 13. He had a clean bill of health for the majority of his life and then a few years before passing, he developed prostate cancer and multiple other types.
Bill: That's very unfortunate. And you got his name tattooed? That's absolutely magical. And your grandmother?
Me: My grandmothers still alive.
Bill: Is she well?
Me: She's ok. She has some things going on but overall, she's good. I got my nan to kiss an envelope a few years back and I'm actually gonna get her lips tattooed over his name. Lipstick is like her trademark haha
Bill: That's magical.

With that, Bill gets his latte and his banana muffin and blueberry muffin for he and his wife and he leaves and to walk to his table. I order my americano and then he reappears, asking if I'd mind going over to the his table and meeting his wife.
I walk over to the table and he introduces us.

Bill: This is Victoria. She's a magical girl. She's special. Tell my wife about your tattoo.

*so I begin to tell her the story that I had previously told him
*she looks interested but a little embarrassed

Bill: Do you believe in good luck, Victoria?
Me: I do.
Bill: Hold out your hand.

*Bill hands me a tiny little hand-pained lady bug

Bill: What does this symbolise?
Me: It's symbolises good luck.
Bill: That's right. Not many people believe in good luck. Not many people believe in ladybugs.
Me: Thank you.
Bill: I want you to have this, too.

*Bill hands me a second ladybug

Bill: Close your hands in mine and repeat after me. "With this ladybug, I give you good luck. I give you the fortune of health. The fortune to forgive bad health and to look forward to good health". I want you to do the same with this lady bug in your grandmothers hand. It's to wish her the fortune of good health.
Me: I will. I promise. I believe in good luck with ladybugs. I don't really like ladybugs but you obviously saw that I have one tattooed on my shoulder?
Bill: WHAT? WHERE? SHOW US!

*I showed the tattoo.

Bill: I honestly had no idea. You believe in luck. You have a ladybug. That's a moment of serendipity. It was magical meeting you. Enjoy your day and good luck with everything.
*Bills face literally dropped and turned white.

I thought this was a genuinely nice gesture. I loved the interaction I had with this man and I loved how he viewed everything. There is nothing better than a stranger doing such a nice act for another. This encounter started my day off superb! He was the sweetest gentleman, EVER! And I am eternally grateful to have meet such a guy <3

*Note: I know his name is Bill cause the Starbucks lady called him by his first name as he ordered his 'regular'.
**Note: There may be some discrepancies within the above but it's pretty accurate as to how the conversation went.

Have you ever had a stranger do something like this? Have you ever had someone walk up to you and give you a gift? This was a touching moment for me and it is definitely a moment I will never forget. :)

Thank you, Starbucks Bill!

A Lovely Saturday

Saturday, June 15th, 2013

I had such a good day on Saturday. I was so glad I decided not to drink on Friday night as I'm sure that would have messed up my Saturday plans for a good workout. I got out of bed at 8:00am (f, ya!) and started tidying the house and doing laundry. I boiled some eggs and had an early morning Epsom salt bath (new love). I had yoga at 10:30am and was planning on heading to the gym afterwards so I packed my gym bag and was on my merry way! I headed out and guess where my stop #1 was?

you know what it is
I ordered a delicious black ice americano and ended up having the most unique encounter with an older gentleman in the Starbucks like. It ended in family introductions, a good luck charm for myself and my grandmother and a very happy/excited Victoria. (I'll post on this soon).

Hatha Yoga
I went to Hatha from 10:30am-11:45am. It was suchhh a good workout! A lot of people associate yoga with just relaxation. Though it IS very relaxing, it's also a really effective allover body workout and it definitely takes a lot of strength to hold yourself in those awkward positions. I wrote about Yin last week but Saturday was Hatha day. Hatha is more of a strengthening type of yoga where Yin focuses on relaxation and the inner parts of ones self.
Americano+Hatha=Happy Victoria

See below for the description that Shakti gives for Hatha Yoga

Gym Time

After yoga, I felt phenomenal. I was so loose and relaxed. I started to feel a little hungry and I hadn't eaten yet so I headed home for a quick snack/late breakfast (hard-boiled egg & egg whites) and for a pre-workout drink. (gross.. that sounds like a terrrrible combo when I re-read it).  I was home for about a half of an hour and then set out again. My muscles were all loose and I was really feelin' a good ol Saturday jog.

I ran 3-miles in a little over 30-minutes. I jogged 1.5-miles at 5.0mph, 0.5-mile at 6.5mph, 0.5-miles at 7.0mph and the last 0.5-mile at 8.0mph. It felt great! After my treadmill date, I headed for the thigh-buster to work on this butt (been targetting that area a lot lately). I did 25-minutes and was high on life afterwards so I reset and went for another 25. I spent a half hour doing a core workout/stretches post-cardio. I must admit, I was very content with my Saturday exercising! (3+hours in total..HI-YA! Like a ninja). I had plans on a washer-deck-beer-bbq so it was nice to burn the calories that I would be taking back later that evening :) yayy

Brunch Prep

Seeing how I was planning on going out drinking, I decided it would be in my best interest to do a little preparation for my Sunday brunch. I'm the classic girl who makes post-drunk plans and is ALWAYS too hung-over to accomplish ANYTHING so I decided I'd do my bitta cutting, organizing, sweeping, cleaning and all that jazz. This way, I could wake up, throw a few things on the stove and badda-boom-badda-bing-BRUNCH!

Deck Beers & Bbq

Andrew Boulos was hosting a small gathering for beers, bbqing and washers so after I got cleaned up and did a few errands, Heather and I headed down. It was actually SUCH a good time!! Andrew wasn't playing that night so it was fun to drink with him and have him actually come out with us.

The guys bbqed everything and had salads, chips, beer etc. All that fun stuff :) It was raining for the most part of the day but luckily, it cleared up in the evening and was super-duper warm! We chilled on the patio and just chatted about evvvverrryyyything. Later in the evening it got pretty chilly out so we went inside, listened to Gerry Rafferty and Paul McCartney and played card games while having laughs! It was such a fine evening. We later head downtown ....... I'd give a detailed description of our night ... but ya kno' how blurry that kinda thing can be. The rest is history :)

I hope everyone else had a fantastic Saturday!

Anyone tick a few 'to dos' off their lists?

Any happy drunks? Short or long runs?

Rainy Fridays

Making the most on this rainy Friday

Bulk Barn 2.0
So last night after work I decided to head to bulk barn for a baking-buy! Remember this post, Buying in Bulk, well last night I bought more and spent $15.00 less! WIN! I've been obsessing with my recipe book lately and I was dying to make some granola so I went in for a 'look' and walked out with $31.00 worth of goodies!

Purchases :) (most of them)
  On the list
  • raisins
  • peanut butter chips
  • whole almonds
  • raw almonds
  • raw cashews
  • dried cranberries
  • dried mangos
  • sunbutter (o-b-s-e-s-s-e-d)
  • dried bananas
  • chili peppers
  • cilantro
  • pumpkin seeds

*greek yogurt covered almonds - these are not shown in any pictures above as they did not make it to the car. O yes, I was one of 'those' shoppers
**guess who LOVEs Bulk Barn? ... ME ME MEEEEE

After I got home from the BB, I wasn't feeling the hottest from eating those almonds so I showered, tidied and headed for bed. I was so tired I thought I was going to be sick. And then I found myself laying in bed for 1.5hrs .. staring out the window and playing 'blog' in my head haha getting excited to write this post that I'm sure I find more amusing than of you readers. Le sigh haha bloggy blog :)

Happy Friday
So the weather was garbage in St. John's today. It was pretty chilly and it was misty all day. To be honest, I enjoyed it. This gave me a reason to run some errands and not feel the need to be on Signal Hill beating myself out because there is a little sun otg.

So what do you think I did? Ahhh ... the same thing I do every day #1 of my work turnaround, silly! Starbucks :) (yes, that's a selfie and yes it took two tries  to get it)

Iced Americano

 Grocery Day
Ok, so am I the only one who absolutely loves grocery shopping? I mean, I love it! I actually get excited. I alwaysss hear people complain about having to go to Dominion or Sobey's or Costco. Like for real? I could sit and make my grocery list and book it to the store with a big smile on my face! I find grocery shopping makes me feel healthy. I can plan my healthy eats and filter what I should and shouldn't be eating. Anyhow, this morning when I woke up, I headed to Costco for a time. I think I'm gonna have a good week of healthy eating. :) I'll drink a Bud Light to that (This is happening - It's Friday).

On the List

  • grapes
  • blackberries
  • blueberries
  • strawberries
  • pineapple
  • avocado
  • celery
  • tomatoes
  • spinach
  • eggs
  • egg whites
  • 4kg of Harvest Creek Chicken
  • goat cheese (I'm living a low-dairy lifestyle these days but I treat myself to GC on salads sometimes.. and I told someone I'd make them a broccoli salad and GC was in the mix)
  • sweet potato/mini spuds (for the brunch I'm planning)
  • wraps (for the brunch I'm planning)
Furniture Shopping
So I've been without a bedroom set since I lived in Paradise in March, 2012. I have a walk-in closet that I adore but I've recently ran out of hangers. I've been looking at bedroom sets for some time now but they're so damn pricey! I figured if I was going to be dishing out upwards of $2000 (yes, that's how much sets go for a'days), then I'd want to make sure that I love love love my purchase. Last Thursday, mom and I met after work for a little gawk at Leon's and Cohen's. Guess who found a set she love-love-lovesss?? ME! Today after grocery shopping, I headed to Leon's and put the down payment on my brand new set (well I'm only getting the dresser, mirror, chest and nightstand as I got a brand new bed last year). I have a 2-3 week wait but it's sooo worth it. I'm excited to the moon and back! This is the biggest purchase I've made in a while now so hopefully it'll give me a kick start on keeping my room clean... well.. we'll see..

New Set & Receipt to prove
I made the down payment

 Running Favourites
After my little trip to finalize my set, I headed to the running room for some WIGWAM socks. I have a couple of pair of Nike running socks but I was told that these runners are the real deal. Not gonna lie, I bought a pair of Nike socks in Vegas and they are the bomb.com but I need a few pairs because I don't have enough laundry to keep them clean. These socks are double-lined on the heels and toes to ensure there is no rubbing. They are tight around the arch for the proper arch support. I ran with these bad boys today and I would tooootally give them a 10/10! <3  I love buying new workout items as I find they actually get me excited to workout :)

I also picked up a pack of GU. I haven't eaten GU since the Tely last year and thought I'd give it another go. I picked up the blueberry flavour and I'm pretty pumped to try it. I tucked a pack of GU in my shorts last year to eat halfway through the race. Come mile 6, I hauled it out and squished it in my mouth (not even knowing what flavour I was eating) HOLY HANNAH!!!!! It was chocolate peppermint (vomit) and it was warm as _____ outside (vomit twice).  Chocolate+Running in 30+ weather = bad news bears!!  I thought I was gonna throw up and a kid with a bottle of water told me I had brownie stuck in my teeth.. I was pretty much the sexiest thing running the race that day. (Ps. I have chills just thinking about that).

A little Baking
I've been on the baking kick here lately so after my shopping, I snuck in an hour of yumness with homemade granola. I wish I could take credit for this recipe but I'd be lying if I said I came up with it. I totally stole the recipe from Sam Norman and made some adjustments to suit myself. Sam has her own blog, http://samanthameetsworld.blogspot.ca/. She lives a healthy lifestyle and posts AMAZING recipes on her blog. Her granola recipe can be found right here (Thanks, Sam).

 Ingredients
3 cups of rolled oats
1/3 cup coconut oil
1/3 cup honey
3/4 cup raw cashews
3/4 cup almonds
1/3 cup sunflower seeds
1/3 cup pumpkin seeds
1 cup dried cranberries
1/3 unsweetened shredded coconut

Directions
Preheat the oven to 350F
Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl
Spread mixture on a cookie sheet that is lined with parchment paper
Cook for 15-20 minutes.
As suggest by Sam, remove from oven and give a little stir, then put back in for 5-minutes
Let cool and serve/container

And there you have it. Lots and lots of yummy delicious granola :)

Almost Green
After I finished my baking (which I heard was great because mama stopped over and took a cup full), I headed to the Green Depot to get rid of some recyclables that were taking up kitchen space.

anddddd NEGATIVE! That place was closed. Rattled. I guess I'll put that on the Saturday list/not!

Workout

Todays workout was a short one. I timed it and was going to post the total but I forgot to stop the stopwatch. When I looked at it, it said 3:05 (I probably could have faked it and looked all 'I'm hard as nails at the gym for 3-hrs') but no, I was at the gym for 1:08 today.

After my 5.0mph run with Mandy the other night, I was curious to see how easy I'd find it if I jogged a longer distance. Today I did 5.0-miles. I ran 4 miles on 5.0mph and for the last mile I broke the quarters up into 6.0, 6.5, 7.0 and 8.0mph. It was such a good run. I honestly think I could have run another couple but I quit there because 1. I had to pee and 2. I had some things to do at home. Overall, I was impressed with my workout. I vowed I'd never run at a speed <6.0mph but I think I'm gonna start switching it up. I'm meeting Miss Mandy at the gym tomorrow so we'll see how that jog goes :) Lifeeee

Relaxing with Epsom Salts

Every time I'm with A, we discuss how relaxing espom salt baths are. The only thing I don't like about baths are 1. you have to make sure the tub is immaculate (ew! if it's not) and 2. they're boring. Today after my gym session, I came home, filled up the tub, threw in some lemon and grass epsom salts (Hempware - amazing!) and sat in the tub for 20 minutes. I got over-heated and bored so I decided to start typing down ideas for my blog in my iPhone. It was swell. It was relaxing and well needed. I have a hard time sitting and doing nothing but this was so worth it :)

Ps. as I waited for the rub to fill, I got a head start on some dishes (don't judge on the amount please). And no, I did not dry them. I'm pro air-dry. And yes, I wiped the sink out before placing any items in there.

#12 from This post
13. clean my fridge (spray down/wipe down/organize by food group) <- wanted to do this for quite some time now
Sparkling

Ta-daaa
I removed everything from my fridge (threw out more than should have been there), sprayed it down with Fantastik (probably gonna die with chemical-food cross contamination) and organized my fridge! I was dreading this for a while now but felt excellent after doing so. I think I'm gonna try and stay on top of this task from here on out.

As I sprayed and cleaned and organized .. there was this little Budlight that was giving me the stink eye.. so as you would, I drank it! It kinda made cleaning a little more fun! :)

A Fantastik (<--haha from earlier) Rainy Friday

So here I sit. Drinking my venti black Pike coffee and concluding a lovely Friday for you readers. I'm was gonna avoid telling you the time (cause I'm cool on a Friday night and would sooner blog than drink).

I got a lot done today. I got to cross a lot of items off of my 'Turnaround To Do" list. I hope everyone else took advantage of their Friday and have a great weekend planned! I have a yoga-run-with-Mandy-bbq-day-drunk kinda day planned for Saturday so don't expect anything productive from this gal!

Good night, all! Heart heart <3

Day of W - WIAW Workouts & Whey

WIAW (What I Ate Wednesday)

Not gonna lie, I like a good WIAW post cause it keeps me focused on eating clean given I have to post it for y'all to see. Perhaps I can think of something clever for posting my eats on Thursday? And maybe every other damn day of the week!! O wait .. scrap that .. someone would call me out on Facebook that shi* as  "I WISH PEOPLE WOULD STOP POSTING FOOD PORN. NOONE CARES WHAT YOU FUC*KING ATE" .. and then I'd be like "I care, I care :) " .. like the loser I am haha Le sigh.

Anyways, Wednesday was a pretty damn good eatin' day! Here goes ..

Breakfast
1/2 an 'unriped' Banana
Whey Protein Pancake

Lunch
Harvest Creek Chicken Breast
1 Hard-boiled Egg

Supper
The remains of a Dominion greek salad
The label to the right is for the balsamic dressing I used (1.5-tbsp)

Snacks
3-California Cherries

Fruit Salad - 1/2 cup of blueberries, 1/2 cup of strawberries,
 1/2 cup of pineapple,
Apple w. 1.5-tbsp of sunbutter  & Large banana

 Unlisted food eaten on Wednesday
- 1 hard-boiled egg (snack before leaving work)
- 1/2 cup of blueberries (eaten after the gym)

myfitnesspal

*Note: I couldn't find the calorie count for those 3 cherries but I doubt I'll lose any sleep over that
**Note: There was a 1/2 a cup of pineapple in that fruit salad (snack) but I couldn't fit it in while
              I was cropping the picture

So there you have it, friends. That's what I ate on Wednesday, June 12th, 2013. A wopping 1450 calories. Perhaps Wednesdays eats will make me skinny? SIKE! (A girl can dream)

Honestly, I'm ok with being 1400+ calories today. I don't take my workouts into account with MFP so that gains me a few extra calories. With that being said, I should really start watching my sugar intake. I'm a sucker for fruit but I'd like to avoid losing my teeth ...

I'm so off and on with MFP but if you'd like to follow me (or let me follow you .. mu-ha-ha-ha), look me up, victoriawade1988

Workouts

I went shopping for a bedroom set this evening and then headed to moms for some supper. It was approaching 9pm at this point and the gym was closing at 10 .. (thus the short workout .. or so I'm telling myself that) *smiles*

I was super tired and felt a little too exhausted to head to the gym. As I drove away from mama-bears, I decided to go anyway but make it a short one. I'm trying not to be hard on myself for missing a day but I start to feel guilty pretty quick. My legs are still sore from last weeks circuit and I just wanna crawl into bed as soon as I go home every night... but guess what? I pushed this lazy ass to the gym and got my sweat on!

Short Core Workout w. Samantha
3 x 1-minute plank
3 x 30 reps of bicycle sit-ups
3 x Alphabet with our legs & feet
3 x 30 crunches on the BOSU ball
Samantha had been at the gym for like an hour before I arrived so I just jumped in on her last circuit and did the 3 reps of each. My stomach was burrrrnnninggg! Thanks, Sam scam ;)

Easy Jog w. Mandy
0.5-mile walk on 4.0mph
1.75-mile light jog on 5.0-5.3mph

57:25 - Total time at the gym
My legs were tired and I had zero intentions of jogging tonight but when I met up with Mandy (<3), we walked and chatted and then decided to lightly jog and chat. I rarely talk to anyone while jogging or running. I'm the prude who will throw in the headphones and block you out if you even try to make eye contact with me haha (I get distracted easy and I have two left feet) but last night felt great! I'm thinking about trying my first real 'long run' this weekend (rainy day) at a slow pace. I generally hop on the treadmill, start at 6.0mph for a few minutes and then go from 6.5-8mph. By miles 3.5-4, my legs are sandbags. This is the worst-feeling-everrrrr!

Cheers to new routines :)
Ways I use Whey

This is a little random (just like every other post I write .. O life) but I wanted to post 2 recipes of my favourite ways to use Whey Protein Powder.

Whey Protein Cakes
Protein Cake - Vanilla Cream Whey w.
Sunbutter & Blueberries
This is the easist recipe EVER! As stated in an older post, I prepare these ready-to-go protein cakes for work on a weekly basis. It honestly takes 5 minutes to whip up (and that's including microwave time).

Ingredients
3 liquid egg whites
1 scoop of vanilla or chocolate whey protein powder (vanilla cream is my favourite)
1 tsp of baking powder
1 tbsp of ground flax
toppings of your choice (almond butter, sunbutter, greek yogurt, berries)

Directions
1. add all dry ingredients to a bowl and mix for a few seconds
2. add 3 liquid egg whites and blend well (I do it with a small spoon)
3. put mixture in a relatively large bowl (a large cereal bowl perhaps - room needed for rising)
4. cook mixture in microwave for 2-3 minutes or until all of the egg whites have cooked through
5. remove from microwave and add topping(s) of your choice

Easy-peasy!

High-Energy Protein Balls

I found the recipe for these energy balls a little over a month a go. I've made them...hmm.. 3 times? They are so quick and easy and delicious (a co-worker of mine ate a container full) :) The most challenging part of this recipe is not eating the mixture after you're done with the rollin'. Try it! Love it!

Ingredients
1/3 cup of almond butter
1/4 cup of honey
1 scoop of Pure Protein Whey - Vanilla Cream
1/8 cup of ground flax
1/4 cup of sunflower seeds
1/4 cup of coconut oil
1/4 cup of unsweetened shredded coconut (optional)
1/2 cup of all natural cocoa

Directions
1. Combine all ingredients in a large bowl
2. Roll mixture into medium size balls and place on a cookie sheet (parchment paper does wonders)
3. Place in fridge and let cool for 2-3 hours

There you have it, kids! A little summary of portions of my Wednesday!

Know any high protein recipes? (I lack protein big time)
Know any good core workouts?
Lastly, how fast to you actually have to move to call it a 'run'?

Happy Wednesday, Lovassssss (posting it Thursday so wouldn't it be Happy Thursday?)

Happy Tuesday

Guess what I get to do today?

I get to cross 1/3 from June goal #6 & I get to subtract 4-miles from June goal #21. Ahh Score!
Proof?

  • most definitely not the most flattering photo as I am covered in sweat from head to tow! not kidding, I cropped this cause I looked like I was taking selfies in the shower
  • 3-miles in 28:43. I started doing a pretty lesirely jog on 6mph  but towards the last mile I varied between 7.0mph and 8mph
  • the treadmill was set for 30-minutes so I reset the time after I hit the 3-mile mark [..and used this time to hydrate .. chettah:) ]
  • Last mile I jogged on 6.0mph for the first half mile, 7.0 for the next quarter mile and 8.5mph for the last quarter mile
  • I felt sick after this run
  • I did 2-25 reps of slowwww chest extensions (24-lbs) after the treadmill
  • I did 2-25 reps of tricep dip to foreman (24-lbs)
  • I wish the calories burned were correct (ugh)
  • I died

  • after the gym I went to McDonald's for a tea
  • after my tea I headed to Yin Yoga on Torbay Road (1:15)
  • I wanna try different studios but I can't stop buying Shakti passes (I say it's my favourite yet I don't have anything to compare it to)
  • Shakti offers a variety of classes
  • see Here for a class schedule.
  • just so you know
    • I'm not one of those 'granola - lets sit and talk to someone from a higher power' kinda gals
    • yoga actually soothes my mind (sounds laughable, I know)
    • for me, yoga is one of the most relaxing practices I think I've ever tried
  • the instructors speak to you in the most graceful tone and remind you of important life lessons
  • the instructors read random quotes from all sorts of books during each class
  • I learned last night that there is an online group called 'The Happy Society'
  • an 8-month pregnant woman had more flexability than I did (Fail!) .. kidddingggg, I went after a gym session so it's an automatic WIN!
  • I pulled muscles in two different areas of my legs and found tonight a struggle
  • I'm pleased with myself :)
  • I think I heart yoga
See below for the description that Shakti gives for Yin Yoga

Tonight (Tuesday, June 11th, 2013)

So primarily, I had planned to take tonight (Tuesday) off from the gym but as I conclude this post ,I've gotten into quite the gym mood (ask me at 7pm). But no, seriously, there's <7-wks until the Tely 10 and I do not feel anywhere near ready. My running had gotten pretty intense there for a while but recently I haven't been as intense. Time to get at it, yes?  Ahh yess :) I'll do that tonight!

Ps. I'm off on Friday, Saturday and Sunday so I'm hoping to:

1. do Signal Hill, Quidi Vidi and Octagon Pond >1 time each
2. clean the fridge
3. have supper with papa
4. bake
5. drink
6. blog
7. read
8. take a gym class
9. come to a conclusion as to if I should weigh myself, take a picture, post a picture and conquer. (yes, I wrote about not caring about the number and whatnot but there is a difference between under and over-weight)
10. Get 8-hrs of sleep / night
11. Shop for Father's Day

O happy happy daysss :)

What are your plans for the weekend? Any fitnesss goals? Anything fun? Anything at all?
